Cisco 7940/7960 Setup Guide

 

The following instructions assume your phone has successfully booted and completed network configuration including obtaining valid IP addresses for itself, an IP gateway and DNS servers either via DCHP, manual or other means, that your phone is running with factory defaults with firmware version 8.2 or better and that the SIP image has been loaded.

Get Started:

Self Install via Device Key Pad Menu

1.)    Unlock the configuration protection by pressing "**#"
2.)    Press "settings" button
3.)    Configure IP connectivity in "Network Configuration Menu" (e.g., set DHCP support)
4.)    Select "SIP Configuration"
5.)    Select "Line 1"
6.)    In the fields "name" and "authentication name" enter
         For Residential Service: +1<<10 digit number>>  Ex +13055555555)
         For vPBX Service: +1<<10digitnumber + ext>>  Ex+13055555555201)
         (do not include <<>>)
7.)    Enter the password that you chose when you signed up for the service.
8.)    Enter "3ng.ipvpbx.com" as proxy address
9.)    Set "g729a" as Preferred Codec
10.)  Press "back" and "save" buttons to leave the configuration mode
11.)  Starting making calls with your vPBX VoIP service!
